The Ecommerce Economic Defense Initiative (EEDI) has put together this business competition in order to make inroads to the revival of the economy. Â Brand Labs has banded together with Volusion, PowerReviews Express, Grasshopper, Olark and AutoResponderMax, in the hopes of contributing to the recovery through our Ecommerce Grant Contest.Â
The competition is open to business owners in two categories: Â those who already have an ecommerce presence on Volution, and those businesses which are not with Volusion, and may not have an online presence at all.Â
There are two methods of entry:Â
- Video (recommended) -Â create a short video (under 3 minutes) that tells them about your business. It doesn’t have to be a major Hollywood production, but it can be if you like that sort of thing. It can be as fancy or as simple as you like. They just want to know what’s special about your business.
- Essay – written entries must be under 2000 words and the same rules apply. It doesn’t have to be poetry. It just needs to be clear, passionate and compelling.

This is a skills-based small business competition.Â
In order to participate you must create a new business account on Shopify.com OR if you are already a Shopify account owner, your account should have been started no earlier than March1, 2012.Â
You may enter your store in the appropriate category from the following:Â Â (1) Electronics, Gadgets & Accessories, (2) Art, Design & Home, (3) Fashion & Apparel, and (4) Everything Else.
Your business must operate for 60 consecutive days between August 1, 2012 & December 31, 2012.Â
To win the prize your business must have the highest gross sales through Shopify for 2 months in its category.

Million Pound Business Startup Competition
The rules for this business startup competition are simple:
1. Your idea/product/startup has to be less than 10 years old.
2. It should not have turned over the equivalant of Â£1,000,000 (i.e. it has never made a Million pounds in revenue)
3. The winner is willing to re-locate the startupâ€™s HQ to London.
